Main applications of cellulose fiber products

2022-02-24

Cellulose fiber products are fibers obtained by processing the stem and bast of certain plants. Usually conifers and broad-leaved trees are used as raw materials. The fiber diameter is 20-120μm, the length is 0.5-5mm, the tensile strength is 300-800MPa, and the elastic modulus is 10-30GPa. Sex is greater. It can be used to replace asbestos to make fiber reinforced cement board suitable for building interior. If it is mixed with calcareous materials (lime, cement, etc.) and siliceous materials (quartz sand, diatomaceous earth, etc.) and cured by autoclaving, it can be made into asbestos-free calcium silicate board, which has good fire resistance and dimensional stability. It can be used as the inner and outer wall panels of buildings and the wall panels of marine compartments.

Cellulose fiber products

As a kind of renewable natural polymer materials, cellulose fiber products have the advantages of biodegradation and low price, and have a large number of hydroxyl groups in the molecular chain, which can react with many small molecular compounds, and can be modified by modifying them. Generate different antibacterial cellulose fiber products. Fluff pulp can be used not only as the base functional material of cellulose fiber products, but also as a water-absorbing material, and is currently widely used in the production of sanitary napkins and diapers. If the fluff pulp is modified into antibacterial products, it can effectively reduce the damage of bacteria to the human body, which can not only improve the quality of the product, expand its functions, but also increase the added value of the fluff pulp.

Cellulose fiber products are generally not affected by reducing agents, but are easily affected by oxidants to generate oxidized cellulose fiber products, which will degenerate and damage the fibers. Cellulose fiber products are very stable to oxygen in the air, but are prone to oxidative embrittlement in the presence of alkali. Therefore, contact with air should be avoided as far as possible during high-temperature alkali cooking, and bleaching agents such as sodium hypochlorite, sodium chlorite, and hydrogen peroxide should be used. When bleaching, the process conditions must be strictly controlled to ensure the proper strength of the fabric or yarn.

When cellulose fiber products are oxidized under different conditions, reductive oxidized cellulose fiber products containing a large number of aldehyde groups or carbonyl groups or acidic oxidized cellulose fiber products containing a large number of carboxyl groups can be obtained. Although the macromolecular chain of cellulose fiber products does not break in the reduced oxidized cellulose fiber products, there is potential damage. Under alkaline conditions, the macromolecular chain of cellulose fiber products will be broken, the degree of polymerization will decrease, and the fiber strength will decrease.
